2. Minimum age

PauseCafé is intended for people aged 9 and over. To request deletion of a minor's data, contact: hello@pausecafe-app.fr.

3. What data is collected

Account data : first name, email address, community username
Wellness data (caffeine) : caffeinated drinks logged, amounts in mg, times
Hydration data : glasses of water logged, times, personal hydration goal (4 to 12 glasses a day), whether the water counter and hydration reminders are switched on
Weight (optional) : entered voluntarily to refine your sleep threshold and caffeine goal. Stored on your device only (local settings), never sent to our servers or to third parties.
Apple Health data (HealthKit) : see the dedicated section 11bis. When you allow it, the app writes your caffeine and water to Apple Health; with PauseCafé Premium, it can read your sleep and resting heart rate. This data stays on your device.
Progress data : points, badges, streak, level
Referral data : your own code, the referrer code used, number of referrals
Community data : leaderboard username, scores visible on the leaderboard, community challenge participation (progress, status), friends list (usernames only)
Indicative health data : caution mode status (on/off), caffeine goal in mg, hydration goal in glasses — strictly personal, not shared
Preference data : your usual number of drinks, personal caffeine goal, personal hydration goal, time of first drink, bedtime — collected during onboarding or in the settings, editable at any time
Drink preferences (Premium) : favourite drinks (up to 3 drink names), the drink set for 1-tap mode, whether 1-tap mode is on — linked to your account, encrypted in transit, deleted when the account is closed
Postal address : collected only when you claim a physical gift (Premium)
Technical data : anonymous Firebase identifier, anonymised crash data
Communication preferences : push notification toggles (caffeine and hydration) and email toggles

Email verification: when you create an email/password account, a verification email is sent. Access to the app is only granted once the email address has been confirmed. Google and Apple accounts are considered verified natively by their own authentication systems.

4. Purposes of processing

To provide the caffeine and hydration tracking service
To estimate, on your device, “active caffeine” (the amount of caffeine in your body) from your drinks — a Premium feature
To personalise the sleep threshold and caffeine goal from the weight you enter (computed on your device)
To provide the gamification system (points, badges, levels, challenges)
To sync data across devices (iPhone, Apple Watch, widget)
To write your caffeine and water to Apple Health, if you've allowed it
To analyse, on your device, the link between your caffeine and your sleep or resting heart rate (Premium, with your Apple Health permission)
To show personalised statistics and trend charts (separate Caffeine and Water tabs)
To personalise the experience according to your stated preferences (caffeine goal, hydration goal, caution mode)
To send push notifications for caffeine and hydration (with consent)
To send transactional emails via Brevo (see section 15)
To send the Monday weekly caffeine report (with consent, can be switched off)
To run the referral programme and award rewards
To handle physical gift claims and their dispatch
To display the community leaderboard (username only)
To run community challenges and the friends list
To improve the app via Firebase Analytics (anonymised data)

5. Legal basis

Performance of the contract : providing the service, referrals, dispatching gifts

No personal data is sold to third parties.

7. Transfers outside the EU

Some processors may handle data outside the EU, governed by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

8. Retention periods

Account data : for as long as the account is actively used
Caffeine and hydration history : up to 2 years in the app
Weight : kept locally on the device for as long as you provide it; erased when the app is uninstalled or when you remove it in the settings
Apple Health data : read on demand and processed on your device; not retained on our servers. You control this data in Apple's Health app
Preference data (caffeine + hydration) : for as long as the account is actively used, editable at any time
Referral and challenge data : for as long as the account is actively used
Community data (leaderboard, friends) : for as long as the account is actively used; deleted when the account is deleted
Favourite drink preferences : for as long as the account is actively used; reset on sign-out, permanently deleted when the account is closed
Postal address (gifts) : up to 90 days after dispatch is confirmed, then deleted
Account deletion : all data erased within 30 days
Anonymised data : retained indefinitely

9. Your rights (GDPR)

Access : CSV export in the app (Progress → Export my data) — includes caffeine and hydration
Rectification : edit your profile in the settings (including caffeine and hydration goals, and weight)
Erasure : Settings → Delete my account

10. Adverts and tracking (ATT)

If you accept : personalised adverts via AdMob

11. Security

Communications encrypted with HTTPS/TLS
Data encrypted at rest via Firebase

Administrator access limited to the publisher, subject to the same rules
Local data reset on every sign-out, so no previous account persists on the device

11bis. Apple Health (HealthKit) and health data

🍎 The principle: your health data stays on your device. PauseCafé can interact with Apple Health, only with your explicit permission, and strictly locally:

Writing (available): if you turn it on, the app records your caffeine and your water in Apple Health, so this data joins your health record.
Reading (Premium): with your permission, the app reads your sleep and your resting heart rate in order to analyse any link with your caffeine intake.
Local processing: these analyses are performed on your device. Apple Health data is never sent to Firebase, to our servers or to third parties, and is never used for advertising.
Full control: you grant or withdraw each permission at any time in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → PauseCafé.

PauseCafé is a wellness app. This information is indicative and does not constitute medical advice.

12. Cookies

The mobile app uses no cookies. The pausecafe-app.fr website is a static site with no tracking cookies.

13. Postal addresses (physical gifts)

Collected with explicit consent, used solely to send the gift, never shared with third parties, deleted within 90 days of dispatch.

14. Administrative account management

The publisher may view account information (on a support request), award points or Premium periods, and handle gift claims. Any such access is in the user's interest and complies with the GDPR.

15. Transactional emails

By creating a PauseCafé account, you consent to receiving transactional emails via Brevo SAS :

Welcome email on sign-up
Email address verification (mandatory for email/password accounts)
Premium welcome email when you become a Premium member
Confirmation that a reward has been activated
Reward expiry reminder (3 days beforehand)
Notification of bonus points or complimentary Premium
Confirmation that a physical gift has been dispatched
Referral-related notifications
Halfway email on a community challenge (50% progress)
Weekly caffeine report (every Monday at 8:30am) — can be switched on or off in Settings → Notifications → Emails

Emails that cannot be switched off: some transactional emails are mandatory because they are essential to the operation of your account or the delivery of your rewards. The full list is set out in our Terms, section 22.3 (email verification, Premium welcome, reward activation, gift dispatch, internal admin alert).

Unsubscribing: link at the foot of every marketing/non-mandatory email, Settings → Notifications → Emails in the app, or hello@pausecafe-app.fr.

16. Push notifications (caffeine and hydration)

PauseCafé can send several types of push notification, all of which can be turned off at any time:

Caffeine reminders : alerts based on your intake and your goal
Hydration reminders : 3 notifications a day at 10am, 1pm and 4pm to remind you to drink water. Switched on automatically the first time you enable the water counter, and can be turned off individually
Challenge & reward reminders : so you don't lose points by forgetting to claim a reward
Streak at risk : an alert if your daily streak is about to be lost

All of these can be configured in Settings → Notifications. Scheduled notifications are automatically cancelled when you sign out.

17. Community leaderboard and friends system

PauseCafé offers a community leaderboard and a friends system. These features display only:

Le username chosen freely by the user (separate from their first name)
Their points total, streak, level and Premium status

No real name, email or identifying data is visible on the leaderboard or in the friends list. The username can be changed at any time from the settings.

The friends system works by username only. Leaderboard data is stored in a separate Firebase collection (/leaderboard), accessible only to authenticated users.

18. Community challenges

Challenge participation (progress, status, activation date) is stored in Firebase (/defiParticipations). It is visible to all authenticated users as part of the challenge leaderboard, but only as a username and a progress figure.

19. Changes

This policy may be updated. In the event of a substantial change, you will be notified in the app.
